House meetings are the staple to growing a leadership community. In many cases, the first exposure to the leadership community comes from the framework of a house meeting. A leadership growth group (house meeting) brings the foundation of fellowship and connects members with common purpose. Margaret Mead said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
Today there are many people who wish to align their values with their daily activities. Because of the widespread loss of the community concept, people are more alone. People feel more isolated today than ever before. In the past, communities were the staple of our country. Robert Nisbit said, “We are entering a new Age of Pessimism.” It appears there is more aloneness and insecurity in our world today. ‘Man’ has become more alienated from ‘Man’. Loss of community brings disorganization, personality disintegration, and individual strife. The advances of technology appear to be creating a complex world of isolation. When was the last time you took the time to associate with a leadership group and made some fun time? Leadership expert Tom Peters said, “He wouldn’t hire a person with a 4.0 grade point average. He is not against intelligence; he just feels that a 4.0 is an indicator that the person has not been playing enough. There may not be balance there.” The restoration of the "Community" can lead to regeneration.
